A lo largo de la historia, las mujeres han resuelto miles de problemas con ingenio, sensibilidad y determinaci\u00f3n.
\nDesde el hogar hasta los grandes laboratorios, la inventiva femenina ha estado presente, aunque muchas veces silenciada o ignorada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Y no es porque haya faltado talento o ideas.<\/p>\n

Lo curioso es que muchas de las cosas que usamos todos los d\u00edas fueron creadas por mujeres<\/strong>. Productos pensados para mejorar la vida, para hacerla m\u00e1s pr\u00e1ctica, m\u00e1s c\u00f3moda\u2026 y muchas veces, creados en medio de la rutina, del cansancio o de la necesidad urgente de resolver algo.<\/p>\n

\n

Hoy, para festejar el D\u00eda de las Madres, te contamos la historia de Marion Donovan.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Una madre que no solo cuid\u00f3 a sus hijos, sino que tambi\u00e9n invent\u00f3 algo que cambi\u00f3 la vida de millones de familias en todo el mundo<\/strong>: el pa\u00f1al desechable.<\/p>\n

Marion Donovan fue una inventora estadounidense, empresaria y madre, nacida el 15 de octubre de 1917<\/strong> en Fort Wayne, Indiana<\/strong>. Desde peque\u00f1a mostr\u00f3 una gran curiosidad por el funcionamiento de las cosas, algo que probablemente hered\u00f3 de su padre y su t\u00edo, ambos inventores.<\/p>\n

Estudi\u00f3 literatura inglesa en la Universidad de Rosemont, en Pensilvania, y m\u00e1s adelante, obtuvo una maestr\u00eda en arquitectura en la Universidad de Yale, algo que en su \u00e9poca no era nada com\u00fan para una mujer. Fue una mujer adelantada a su tiempo en muchos sentidos.<\/p>\n

Ya en la d\u00e9cada de 1940, Marion era ama de casa y madre de tres hijos. Como muchas madres de su \u00e9poca, lidiaba diariamente con los inconvenientes de los pa\u00f1ales de tela: fugas, rozaduras, monta\u00f1as de ropa sucia y horas de lavado.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Frustrada por esa rutina, decidi\u00f3 crear una soluci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica<\/strong>. Us\u00f3 tela de una cortina de ba\u00f1o y cosi\u00f3 un pa\u00f1al impermeable, con una capa interior absorbente, que adem\u00e1s ten\u00eda broches en lugar de imperdibles. Lo llam\u00f3 \u00abBoater\u00bb<\/strong>, y era reutilizable, higi\u00e9nico y c\u00f3modo para el beb\u00e9. Pronto comenz\u00f3 a fabricar algunos para amigas y conocidos.<\/p>\n

Cuando busc\u00f3 comercializar su invento, fue rechazada por m\u00faltiples empresas<\/strong>. Le dijeron que ninguna madre dejar\u00eda de lavar pa\u00f1ales. Pero ella no se rindi\u00f3.<\/p>\n

En 1951, patent\u00f3 su dise\u00f1o<\/strong>, y un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s, vendi\u00f3 los derechos a la cadena de tiendas Keko por un mill\u00f3n de d\u00f3lares<\/strong> (una fortuna para la \u00e9poca). Su idea fue el paso previo para que en los a\u00f1os 60 se desarrollaran los pa\u00f1ales desechables como los conocemos hoy.<\/p>\n

\n

UNA MENTE INCANSABLE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Pero Marion no se detuvo ah\u00ed. Patent\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 20 inventos a lo largo de su vida, entre ellos un dispensador de hilo dental, una jabonera sin goteo y un sistema de almacenaje para art\u00edculos de ba\u00f1o. Su capacidad de observaci\u00f3n y resoluci\u00f3n de problemas cotidianos fue constante.<\/p>\n

SU LEGADO<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Marion Donovan falleci\u00f3 en 1998, pero su legado vive cada d\u00eda en millones de hogares. Fue una pionera que, sin apoyo inicial, sin ser ingeniera de formaci\u00f3n, logr\u00f3 cambiar la industria del cuidado infantil con creatividad, valent\u00eda y perseverancia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
